च

 चक्रीकरण  cakrīkaraṇa  The pharmaceutical process of forming a fine paste (levigation) and shaping it into small discs (cakrikā) for the purpose of subjecting it to puta pāka (incineration) to prepare ashes (bhasma).

 चक्षुः  cakṣuḥ  The eye; the organ of sight and one of the five sense organs (jñānendriyas).

 चक्षुष्यम्  cakṣuṣyam  Beneficial for the eyes; a category of substances that promote eye health and improve vision.

 चङ्क्रमणम्  caṅkramaṇam  The practice of taking a gentle, slow walk (for about a hundred steps) after meals to aid digestion (dīpana) and relieve heaviness.

 चञ्चला  cañcalā  Unsteady, fickle, tremulous. (e.g., describing a pulse or a symptom).

 चञ्चुमालकसंयुक्तं  cañcumālakasaṃyuktaṃ  Characterized by beak-like ring marks or lesions on the skin.

 चटचटायनत्वं  caṭacaṭāyanatvaṃ  The property of making a cracking or creaking sound (e.g., from a joint).

 चटितत्वं इव  caṭitatvaṃ iva  A sensation as if something is cracking or breaking.

 चतुरूषण  caturūṣaṇa  A classical combination of four pungent (kaṭu vipāka, uṣṇa vīrya) drugs: 1. Pippalī (Piper longum fruit), 2. Pippalīmūla (Piper longum root), 3. Marica (Piper nigrum fruit), 4. Śuṇṭhī (Zingiber officinale rhizome).

 चतुर्जातक  caturjātaka  A classical combination of four aromatic drugs: 1. Tvak (Cinnamomum zeylanicum bark), 2. Elā (Elettaria cardamomum fruit), 3. Patra (Cinnamomum tamala leaves), 4. Nāgakeśara (Mesua ferrea stamens).

 चतुर्दंष्ट्रः  caturdaṃṣṭraḥ  A classification for animals possessing four large canine teeth or fangs (often venomous).

 चतुर्बीज  caturbīja  A classical combination of four seeds: 1. Methikā (Trigonella foenum-graecum), 2. Candraśūra (Lepidium sativum), 3. Kālāñjī (Nigella sativa), 4. Yavānī (Trachyspermum ammi).

 चतुर्भद्रा  caturbhadrā  "The four excellents"; a classical combination of four important drugs: 1. Śuṇṭhī (Zingiber officinale rhizome), 2. Ativiṣā (Aconitum heterophyllum root), 3. Mustā (Cyperus rotundus rhizome), 4. Guḍūcī (Tinospora cordifolia stem).

 चतुर्विंशत्युपक्रमम्  caturviṃśatyupakramam  The twenty-four specialized treatment modalities for managing poisoning (viṣa cikitsā).

 चतुष्पाद  catuṣpāda  "The four pillars" of successful treatment: 1. Bhīṣag (Physician), 2. Dravya (Medicine/Drug), 3. Paricāraka (Nurse/Attendant), 4. Rogī (Patient).

 चन्द्रकः  candrakaḥ  1. The peacock's feather. 2. A term describing a bluish-green or iridescent colour reminiscent of a peacock's feather.

 चन्द्रकैः सन्ततं पुरीषम्  candrakaiḥ santataṃ purīṣam  Stool that is streaked or tinged with a bluish-green colour (like a peacock's feather), often a sign of certain pathologies.

 चन्द्रकोपगतम्  candrakopagataṃ  Stool that has taken on the colour of a peacock's feather.

 चन्द्रकोपमम्  candrakopamam  Resembling the colour of a peacock's feather (in reference to stool).

 चन्द्राकृति दृष्टि मण्डल  candrākṛti dṛṣṭi maṇḍala  A crescent or half-moon shaped deformity of the pupil.

 चन्द्रार्क  candrārka  An alloy of silver (candra, moon) and copper (arka, sun).

 चपलचेष्टा  capalaceṣṭā  Restless or fidgety movements.

 चयः  cayaḥ  Stage of accumulation (of doṣas); the first stage in the pathogenesis of a disease (saṃprāpti).

 चर्म  carma  The skin.

 चर्व्य  carvya  A type of food that requires chewing (as opposed to those that are licked, drunk, or sucked).

 चल  cala  Mobile, moving, unstable.

 चल स्वरः  cala svaraḥ  Tremulous or unsteady voice.

 चलचेष्टा  calaceṣṭā  Restless physical activity.

 चलदर्शनम्  caladarśanam  Unsteady vision; oscillopsia (the perception that the visual environment is moving).

 चलित अग्र हस्त  calita agra hasta  Tremor of the hand(s).

 चलित एक कपोल  calita eka kapola  Twitching or trembling of one cheek.

 चलित भ्रू  calita bhrū  Twitching of the eyebrow(s).

 चषका  caṣakā  A small, shallow pan or saucer (e.g., of clay or iron) used in pharmaceutical processes like roasting.

 चाटालत्वं योन्या  cāṭālatvaṃ yonyā  Gaping or laxity of the vaginal canal.

 चारण  cāraṇa  A specific saṃskāra (processing/purification) step for metals like mercury, involving trituration with specific herbal juices to remove impurities and enhance potency.

 चालदन्त  cāladanta  Loose teeth; tooth mobility.

 चाषपक्षनिभम्  cāṣapakṣanibham  Having the blue-black appearance of a crow's wing (a specific description of urine or other secretions).

 चिकित्स्य पुरुषः  cikitsya puruṣaḥ  The subject (person) to be treated; the human being composed of the five gross elements (pañcamahābhūtas) and the soul (ātmā).

 चिक्कण  cikkaṇa  Smooth, unctuous, oily.

 चित्त भ्रंशः  citta bhraṃśaḥ  Derangement or perversion of the mind; psychosis.

 चित्तविप्लवः  cittaviplavaḥ  Agitation or confusion of the mind.

 चित्तविभ्रंशः  cittavibhraṃśaḥ  Loss of normal mental faculties.

 चित्तविभ्रमः  cittavibhramaḥ  Mental confusion, delusion, perplexity.

 चित्तोपप्लवः  cittopaplavaḥ  Affliction or disturbance of the mind.

 चित्रं मनोनुगतं  citraṃ manonugataṃ  A substance (e.g., a truth serum) that makes the mind follow its will, causing a person to reveal secrets.

 चित्ररूप दर्शनम्  citrarūpa darśanam  Seeing multicolored or variegated forms; chromatopsia (a visual disturbance).

 चित्रा राग दृष्टिमण्डल  citrā rāga dṛṣṭimaṇḍala  A multicolored discoloration of the pupil or iris.

 चिन्तानुरूप  cintānurūpa  Imitative thought; echophrasia (repeating another's words in one's thoughts).

 चिन्तापरः  cintāparaḥ  One who is engrossed in excessive worry or anxiety.

 चिन्त्यम्  cintyam  1. The object of thought. 2. Worthy of consideration.

 चिपिट  cipiṭa  Flattened, depressed.

 चिबुकः  cibukaḥ  The chin.

 चिबुकम्  cibukam  The chin; the mentum.

 चिमिचिमायन  cimicimāyana  A sensation of pins and needles; formication.

 चिरपाकः  cirapākaḥ  Slow or delayed digestion.

 चिरवासस्  ciravāsas  Wearing old, torn, or ragged clothes.

 चिरात्  cirāt  After a long time; delayed, tardy.

 चिरात् निमेषम्  cirāt nimeṣam  Difficulty in closing the eyelids; delayed blinking.

 चिरात् निषेकम्  cirāt niṣekam  Delayed ejaculation.

 चिरात् वदनम्  cirāt vadanam  Slowed or delayed speech.

 चुच्छुन्दरगन्ध  cucchundaragandha  Having the odor of a rat/mouse.

 चुम्बक  cumbaka  A magnet; lodestone. (Note: चुम्बिका typically means 'a kiss').

 चुल्लिका  cullikā  The fading or tarnishing of a metal's plated surface over time.

 चूचुकम्  cūcukam  The nipple; the mammary papilla.

 चूर्णावकीर्णाभ  cūrṇāvakīrṇābha  Having a dusty, sprinkled, or speckled appearance.

 चूर्णितम्  cūrṇitam  The process of powdering; a state of being finely powdered.

 चूषणम्  cūṣaṇam  The act of sucking.

 चूष्य  cūṣya  A type of medicine intended to be held in the mouth and sucked.

 चूष्यत इव बस्तिः  cūṣyata iva bastiḥ  A sucking or drawing sensation in the urinary bladder.

 चेतः  cetaḥ  The mind, consciousness, the perceiving faculty.

 चेतः स्थानम्  cetaḥ sthānam  The seat of consciousness; the brain.

 चेतनः  cetanaḥ  Conscious, sentient.

 चेतनद्रव्य  cetanadravya  Animate substance; a living entity (plant, animal, human) possessing consciousness, as opposed to inert matter.

 चेतना  cetanā  Consciousness, sentience, awareness.

 चेतनाच्युतिः  cetanācyutiḥ  Loss of consciousness; syncope.

 चेतनावान्  cetanāvān  The conscious being; the embodied soul.

 चेष्टा  ceṣṭā  1. Motor activity, movement, effort. 2. Function, activity.

 चेष्टानुरूप  ceṣṭānurūpa  Imitative behavior; echopraxia (mimicking another's actions).

 चेष्टापहरत्व  ceṣṭāpaharatva  Loss of motor function; paralysis.

 चेष्टापहरत्वं हस्त  ceṣṭāpaharatvaṃ hasta  Loss of motor function in the hand(s).

 चेष्टाभङ्गः  ceṣṭābhaṅgaḥ  Cessation or breaking of motor activity; paralysis.

 चेष्टावन्तः सन्धयः  ceṣṭāvantaḥ sandhayaḥ  Synovial or movable joints (e.g., shoulder, knee).

 चेष्टावह स्रोतांसि  ceṣṭāvaha srotāṃsi  The channels (nerves) responsible for carrying motor impulses.

 चेष्टाविभ्रम  ceṣṭāvibhrama  Disordered or improper motor activity.

 चैतन्यम्  caitanyam  The principle of consciousness; pure awareness.

 चैत्य  caitya  A sacred tree (often a large, ancient tree revered and used for rituals).

 चोषः  coṣaḥ  A sucking type of pain or sensation.

 चौण्ड्यम्  cauṇḍyam  Water from a specific, fast-flowing mountain stream (described as clear, cool, and flowing over stones).

 च्यवनम्  cyavanam  Dislocation; displacement from its proper place.

 च्युतं स्थानात् हृदयम्  cyutaṃ sthānāt hṛdayam  A sensation as if the heart is dislocated or displaced.

 च्युतिः  cyutiḥ  1. Dislocation. 2. Falling, dropping, shedding.
