घ

 

घटः  ghaṭaḥ  A unit of liquid measurement; One Droṇa = 4 Āḍhakas = 16 Prasthas = 64 Kuḍavas. Approximately 12.288 kg/liter.

 घटी  ghaṭī  A unit of time; 24 minutes. 60 Ghaṭīs = 1 Ahorātra (24 hours).

 घट्टन हृदयं  ghaṭṭana hṛdayaṁ  A feeling of constriction, tightness, or pressing pain in the region of the heart.

 घण्टिका  ghaṇṭikā  The uvula. The conical fleshy mass hanging from the soft palate.

 घनं  ghanaṁ  Solid, dense, thick (in consistency), or cloud. Context-dependent.

 घनता  ghanatā  Density, thickness. *Not typically used for "obesity";* obesity is Sthoulya (स्थौल्य).

 घनपंक  ghanapaṅka  1. A thick, semi-solid paste. <br> 2. In pharmacy: A specific method of encasing a drug bolus in a clay layer for putapāka (incineration) processing.

 घनवती  ghanavatī  Possessing density/thickness; (e.g., a thick liquid or a dense swelling).

 घनाघातक्षमम्  ghanāghātakṣamam  Malleable; a property of metals/purities that can withstand hammering without breaking.

 घनासहम्  ghanāsaham  Not malleable, brittle; a property of impure metals that shatter when hammered.

 घर्म इच्छा  gharma icchā  Desire for warmth (e.g., a symptom where a patient seeks heat or warm environments).

 घर्मयोगत  gharmayogata  Caused by or associated with exposure to intense heat/scorching sun (e.g., heatstroke).

 घर्षण  gharṣaṇa  Trituration, grinding, rubbing (a pharmaceutical process to powderize herbs).

 घस्मरः  ghasmaraḥ  One who has excessive hunger/insatiable appetite; a glutton.

 घुटिका / घुण्टिका  ghuṭikā / ghuṇṭikā  1. Malleolus (ankle bone). <br> 2. Incus (anvil-shaped bone of the middle ear). *Context is key.*

 घुर्घुरकं कण्ठ  ghurghurakaṁ kaṇṭha  Gurgling sound in the throat (e.g., due to accumulated secretions).

 घुर्घुरकं श्वासं  ghurghurakaṁ śvāsaṁ  Stridor; breathing with a high-pitched, whistling or gurgling sound due obstructed airflow.

 घुर्घुरायन कण्ठ  ghurghurāyana kaṇṭha  The act of making a gurgling sound in the throat (verb form).

 घूर्णता  ghūrṇatā  Vertigo, dizziness; a sensation of spinning or whirling.

 घूर्णति इव  ghūrṇati iva  A feeling as if the head is spinning or revolving (a classic description of vertigo).

 घृत  ghṛta  Clarified butter (ghee). A vital Ayurvedic vehicle (Anupāna) and medicinal base.

 घृत वर्ग  ghṛta varga  A class/therapeutic category of preparations where ghee is the main base (e.g., Brāhmī Ghṛta, Mahātriphalā Ghṛta).

 घृतगन्धि  ghṛtagandhi  Having the characteristic aroma of ghee.

 घृतमण्डाभ  ghṛtamaṇḍābha  Having the appearance of the frothy/scummy layer that forms on the top of ghee.

 घृताभं  ghṛtābhaṁ  Ghee-colored; a pale yellow or golden-yellow hue.

 घृष्ट व्रण  ghṛṣṭa vraṇa  Abrasion; a superficial wound caused by scraping or rubbing the skin.

 घृष्टं  ghṛṣṭaṁ  Triturated, powdered, rubbed (often refers to an ingredient prepared by grinding).

 घृष्तं रजः किरेत्  ghṛṣtaṁ rajaḥ kiret  When rubbed, it yields a fine powder/dust. A test for the dryness and purity of a substance.

 घोर दर्शनं  ghora darśanaṁ  Terrifying hallucinations or visions; seeing frightening forms.

 घोल  ghola  Buttermilk. Specifically, the liquid remaining after churning yogurt/curd to remove butter.

 घोषवत् उच्छास  ghoṣavat ucchāsa  Noisy expiration; breathing out with an audible, often wheezing or moaning, sound.

 घोषाकृष्ट्रताम्र  ghoṣākṛṣṭratāmra  Copper extracted or separated from bronze (an alloy of copper and tin) through a specific metallurgical process.

 घ्राण  ghrāṇa  1. The nose (the organ). 2. The sense of smell. 3. The act of smelling.

 घ्राणनाशं  ghrāṇanāśaṁ  Anosmia; the complete loss of the sense of smell.

 घ्राणमार्गः  ghrāṇamārgaḥ  The nasal passage; the anatomical pathway from the nostrils to the nasopharynx.

 घ्राणमूलम्  ghrāṇamūlam  The root/upper region of the nose (bridge of the nose); the area where the olfactory nerves are located.

 घ्राणम्  ghrāṇam  The olfactory epithelium; the specialized tissue inside the nose responsible for detecting smells.

 घ्राणविप्लव  ghrāṇaviplava  A disorder of the sense of smell; can mean anosmia (loss) or parosmia (distortion).
