क

 कंचुक  kaṁcuka  A thin oxide film or layer that forms on the surface of metals like mercury due to reaction with atmospheric impurities.

 कंसनील  kaṁsanīla  A bluish color resembling the patina or tarnish on bronze.

 कंस्यसमच्छाय दृष्टि मण्डल  kaṁsyasamachāya dṛṣṭi maṇḍala  Pupil (or iris) that has a bronze-like, uniform color.

 कंस्याभ दृष्टिमण्डल  kaṁsyābha dṛṣṭimaṇḍala  Pupil (or iris) that has the color of gunja seed (Abrus precatorius) – a reddish-brown.

 कक्षः / कक्षा  kakṣaḥ / kakṣā  Axilla; the armpit.

 कचाः  kacāḥ  The hair on the head.

 कचान्तः  kacāntaḥ  The hairline; the boundary where the scalp hair ends.

 कच्छपसंस्थान  kacchapasaṁsthāna  A raised, dome-shaped swelling resembling the shell of a tortoise.

 कज्जली  kajjalī  A black sulfide of mercury (HgS), prepared by triturating mercury with sulfur. A crucial intermediate in mercury-based processing (Rasa Śāstra).

 कटकटायनत्व  kaṭakaṭāyanatva  Gnashing or grinding of the teeth.

 कटि कपालः  kaṭi kapālaḥ  The hip bone; the innominate bone or pelvic bone.

 कटि सन्धिः  kaṭisandhiḥ  The hip joint.

 कण्ठ कूजनं  kaṇṭha kūjanaṁ  A cooing or gurgling sound produced in the throat.

 कण्ठेश्वयथु  kaṇṭheśvayathu  Edema or swelling of the larynx.

 कण्ठोपलेप  kaṇṭhopalepa  A feeling of mucus coating or phlegm adhering to the throat.

 कनीन सन्धिः  kanīna sandhiḥ  The inner canthus; the medial angle where the upper and lower eyelids meet.

 कन्द  kanda  An underground storage organ; refers to bulbs, rhizomes, corms, or tubers.

 कन्द वर्ग  kanda varga  The class or group of plants whose bulbs, rhizomes, or tubers are used medicinally.

 कन्दुक यंत्र  kanduka yaṁtra  A specific apparatus where a substance like cinnabar is bundled into a ball with threads for processing (e.g., extraction of mercury).

 कन्धरः  kandharaḥ  The neck.

 कपालः  kapālaḥ  The scalp; the skull.

 कपिल  kapila  Tawny or brownish-yellow color.

 कपोलः  kapolaḥ  The cheek.

 कफ  kapha  One of the three biological humors (Doṣas). It is composed primarily of Earth (Pṛthvi) and Water (Jala) elements. Its qualities are heavy, cold, soft, oily, smooth, slow, and stable. It governs structure, lubrication, stability, and immunity. Its main seats are the chest, throat, head, and joints.

 कफ कोपन  kapha kopana  Substances or factors that aggravate or vitiate Kapha Doṣa.

 कफ संशमन  kapha saṁśamana  Substances or therapies that pacify aggravated Kapha Doṣa.

 कफ संस्राव  kapha saṁsrāva  Excessive flow or discharge of mucus.

 कफ सम्पूर्ण इव  kapha sampūrṇa iva  A feeling as if the chest is full of mucus.

 कफदिग्ध शिरः  kaphadigdha śiraḥ  A feeling as if the head is smeared or coated with mucus (heaviness in head).

 कफनिष्ठीव  kaphaniṣṭhīva  Spitting out mucus.

 कफप्रसेकः / कफप्रसेवः  kaphaprasekaḥ / kaphaprasevaḥ  Excessive salivation or discharge of mucus from the mouth.

 कफरुद्ध कण्ठ  kapharuddha kaṇṭha  Throat obstructed by mucus.

 कफस्थानानि  kaphasthānāni  The primary seats or locations of Kapha in the body (e.g., chest, throat, head).

 कफस्रुति  kaphasruti  Flow or discharge of mucus.

 कमल पत्र वर्ण  kamala patra varṇa  A color resembling a lotus leaf (bluish-green).

 कम्प  kampa  Tremor; trembling or vibration.

 कयुष्ठवर्ण  kayuṣṭhavarṇa  A color resembling the resin of Gamboge tree (Garcinia morella) – a yellowish-orange.

 करः  karaḥ  The hand.

 करजाः  karajāḥ  The nails.

 करण  karaṇa  1. An instrument or means to achieve an effect. 2. In pharmacy, the processing or refinement of a substance to impart new properties.

 करणम्  karaṇam  1. A subordinate cause. 2. A sensory or motor organ. 3. Medicinal preparations.

 करणानि  karaṇāni  The intellectual, sensory, and motor faculties and their organs.

 करभकपिल  karabhakapila  A tawny color resembling that of a young camel.

 करमध्य  karamadhya  A unit of measurement equal to one Karṣa (approx. 12 grams).

 करमूलम्  karamūlam  The wrist.

 करवीरक  karavīraka  The plant Nerium indicum (Oleander); a poisonous plant.

 कराल दन्त  karāla danta  Protruding, uneven, or frightening teeth.

 करीर  karīra  A fleshy growth or polyp.

 कर्णिका  karṇikā  1. A small, spike-like projection. 2. A polypoid or granulomatous growth that develops at the site of a poisonous insect or rat bite.

 कर्णिकापातनं  karṇikāpātanaṁ  The surgical procedure of excising the granulomatous growth (karṇikā) caused by a bite.

 कर्तन  kartana  Cutting; incision.

 कर्तनं  kartanaṁ  A cutting or sharp pain.

 कर्ता  kartā  The agent; often refers to the physician or the soul (Ātman).

 कर्दम इव / कर्दमाभं  kardama iva / kardamābhaṁ  Resembling wet mud in appearance.

 काण्डेक्षु इव / काण्डेक्षु सङ्काशं  kāṇḍekṣu iva / kāṇḍekṣu saṅkāśaṁ  Resembling the juice of sugar cane.

 कादम्बरी  kādambarī  The denser, sediment layer found below the clear liquid (Prasanna) in fermented preparations.

 काम  kāma  1. Desire, especially sensual desire. 2. One of the four goals of human life (Puruṣārtha).

 कामता / कामिता / कामुकत्व  kāmatā / kāmitā / kāmukatva  Desire; lustfulness.

 कार्य  kārya  The objective or duty of the physician, which is to maintain the equilibrium of the bodily humors (Doṣas).

 कार्य द्रव्य  kārya dravya  Effectual substances; the manifested products of the causal substances (e.g., specific medicinal plants).

 कार्यफलं सुखावाप्ति  kāryaphalaṁ sukhāvāpti  The result of a correct action is the attainment of happiness and satisfaction of body, mind, and senses.

 कार्यफलम्  kāryaphalam  The outcome or result of a therapeutic intervention.

 कार्ययोनिः  kāryayoniḥ  The proximate or immediate cause of a disease.
